Anorgasmia, in other words ‘not being able to orgasm’, is a common problem especially in women.
Orgasm may not be experienced at all during some stages of sexual life, as seen in some cases.
Sexual response in women; It is complicated because it is the result of a complex interaction of physiological, psychological, interpersonal, neurovascular, and hormonal factors.
The reasons for not being able to orgasm, that is, anorgasmia, can be considered as physical, psychological and partner-related. First of all, a detailed gynecological examination is required to determine whether there is a physical aspect.
Vulvar vestibulitis syndrome, which causes vaginal infection, vaginal dryness, or painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia), should be treated. In addition to these, chronic alcoholism, diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases and some neurological diseases can also cause anorgasmia.
The most common reason for not having an orgasm is a lack of knowledge about theiranatomical structures and sexuality. Especially at early ages, the lack of knowledge and experience is more common.
In addition, sexual traumas experienced in the stages of sexual identity maturation, problematic adolescence, traumatic experiences in the first sexual experience, stories of abuse or rape may also cause orgasm problems.
In women with a developed sense of control and a controlling and perfectionist structure, the rate of inability to orgasm is also high. (There is also an increase in the frequency of vaginismus.) It is observed more common in women who cannot let go of themselves and who want to be in control all the time.
Sexual reluctance is commonly associated with vaginismus.
Spousal attitude is also an important factor in anorgasmia. Other factors include the spouse’s inability to sufficiently warn and prepare his partner for the relationship, as well as his lack of experience. In addition, premature ejaculation, sexual reluctance and erection problems (erectile dysfunction) in the spouse may also cause the problem of inability to have an orgasm.
For all these reasons, anorgasmia is a recoverable symptom. The combination of simple medical procedures and sexual therapies gives successful results.
